Anne Marie Cummings

Anne Marie Cummings is the founder of and a director for Readers Theatre of Ithaca. The Readers Theatre has moved to a new space at Lehman Alternative Community School to perform their latest play, David Mamet’s Oleanna. This play was written in the wake of the Anita Hill – Clarence Thomas she said – he said confirmation hearings. It concerns the allegations made by a troubled female student (Darcy Jo Martin) against the feckless young professor (Tim Perry) who attempts to help her academically and (his big mistake) personally. Performances begin Feb. 22.

In the second half of the show activists Matt Ryan and Mary Anne Grady talk about their recent arrests outside of Hancock Air Force Base near Syracuse. Drones that are bombing in Afghanistan and Pakistan are being piloted from Hancock. Several protesters have been arrested after non-violent demonstrations at the gates. See Upstate Drone Action for more information.
