The Cayuga Nature Center is starting a winter writing program. The newly renovated lodge is now comfortable in the cold weather and a comfortable to hold seminars and workshops.

The first three will be a memoir writing workshop on Saturday, February 2 with Jill Swenson of Swenson Book Development; a poetry writing workshop on Saturday, February 9 with Jay Leeming, former poet laureate of Tompkins County; and a nature writing workshop with Bill Chaisson, one of the hosts of this show and arts editor of the Ithaca Times. All three writers will be talking about what they plan for their workshops and about the teaching of writing in general.

Fiddler Rick Manning is one of the organizers of the Winter Village Bluegrass Festival. The festival itself will be held on January 25-27 at La Tourelle and the Hangar Theatre and will feature the Gibson Brothers, Della Mae and Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, among others. But this year Manning has added a fiddle camp that will happen two weekends before the festival on January 11-13.

Ithaca Times film critic Bryan VanCampen will be back to sum up the 2012 movies and talk about what is coming down the pike.
